A Gary man facing 45 to 65 years for two counts of murder has pleaded guilty to lesser offenses in exchange for a 16-year prison sentence.

Anthony Terry Wilson, 49, pleaded guilty to a charge of assisting a criminal and to being a habitual offender in a Nov. 1, 2013, double homicide in Gary.

In court, Wilson admitted that he and co-defendant Mark Anthony Williams walked to a residence in the 2500 block of Delaware Street in Gary, where Leviticus and Toshiba Dupree lived. Williams stabbed the Duprees to death, Wilson said in court.

Wilson said he walked outside and waited for Williams to come out of the home. When Williams did leave the home, he was carrying car keys and a shotgun.

Both Leviticus Dupree, 62, and Toshiba Dupree, 54, died from stab wounds inflicted by Williams, Wilson testified.

Wilson's plea agreement, submitted Tuesday, exactly three years after the Duprees were killed, outlines that Wilson will serve his time in prison, with no option for alternative placement. Lake Superior Judge Diane Ross Boswell scheduled a Dec. 20 sentencing hearing. Two counts of murder, two counts of murder in perpetration of robbery, two counts of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, auto theft and two counts of armed robbery will be dismissed if the judge accepts the plea agreement.

Last month, Williams, 47, pleaded guilty but mentally ill to two counts of murder in the perpetration of robbery in the deaths of the couple.
