The Chino Basin Water Conservation District invites people and dogs to a free Dog Days of Summer event 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Waterwise Community Center, 4594 San Bernardino St., Montclair.
The event in the garden includes music, activities, giveaways for pups and treats for the whole family, according to a news release.
“The Dog Days of Summer event offers a unique opportunity to cool off with your pet while enjoying the beauty and benefits of waterwise gardening,” Mark Ligtenberg, Chino Basin Water Conservation District board president, said in the release. “It’s a great way to see firsthand how drought-tolerant landscapes can thrive with very little water.”
Those attending will also learn about the effects of dog waste in the watershed and how to reduce a leading cause of storm water pollution by picking up after their pets, according to the news release.
Registration is not needed to attend. Dogs must be leashed and well-behaved.
The Chino Basin Water Conservation District is also taking Dog Days a step further this year and offering extended garden hours July 24 and 31, with the garden open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
