Young fans of the arts explored the world of mariachi Tuesday at The Contemporary Club in Redlands with the help of Mariachi Continental de San Diego.
Before the ensemble took the Redlands Bowl stage Tuesday evening, performers met with children at the club to introduce them to mariachi instruments and songs.
The workshop was the first in a free series featuring a rotating cast of professional singers, dancers and actors who interact with children to celebrate the performing arts. The Children’s Festival Workshops are offered each year as part of the Summer Music Festival at the Redlands Bowl.
Next up on Friday is a workshop featuring Catapult, a dance group that reached the finals on “America’s Got Talent.”
After that, workshops for children ages 4- 12 continue from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Tuesdays and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturdays through Aug. 9.
The Catapult workshop, as well as all Tuesday workshops, will be held at The Contemporary Club, 173 S. Eureka St., and Saturday workshops will be at the Redlands Community Center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave.
