A street party in celebration of the Westside is returning to Mar Vista this weekend, with thousands of people expected to attend the free annual Venice Summer Fest.
The festival will take place from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday at 12257 Venice Blvd. and will include music on four stages, vendors, food trucks and a bunch of free stuff.
“It’s basically like going to a free music festival all day,” said Sarah Fisk, founder of Venice Summer Festival.
The day will start with a noon yoga class for the first 100 to arrive.
And after people center themselves with yoga they can start partying to live music from more than two dozen bands covering genres from rock to country to electronic dance music to children’s tunes.
Entry isn’t the only free thing at the festival because King’s Hawaiian will be giving away pretzels, while Bailey’s Kona, Polar Beverages, Sprite and others offer free beverages. The festival also includes a classic car show, and you may even go home with a new best friend from a dog adoption booth.
For kids there will be a game area, and for adults there’s a beer garden with lounges and games plus a sushi truck.
