


The case against a Pontiac man accused of setting a man on fire has advanced to Oakland County Circuit Court for possible trial.
Joseph Lee Green, 30, is accused of using a lighter and paper to burn the 49-year-old victim on his arm, neck and elsewhere on his body. Green is charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and arson for the Feb. 5 attack, which reportedly happened at a home on Cherryhill Street in Pontiac’s North Hill Farms complex.The incident was recorded and posted on social media.
The injuries required hospitalization for the victim.
Judge Cynthia Thomas Walker of 50th District Court bound the case over to the higher court at the conclusion of a preliminary exam on June 13.
Green is scheduled to be arraigned June 25 before Judge Nanci Grant.
For now, he’s in the Oakland County Jail with bond set at $75,000 with a 10% provision, meaning he can get out of jail if he posts $7,500 cash or surety.
