Trial underway for former jail worker accused of having sex with juvenile inmates

Trial is underway in Wayne County for a Farmington Hills woman accused of sex crimes involving teens at a Wayne County juvenile detention center while working there.

Svetlana Kuryanova, 34, is charged with two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct for alleged incidents that happened in April 2024l at Wayne County’s Juvenile Detention Center in Hamtramck, where she was employed as a juvenile detention specialist. The alleged victims were ages 16 and 17 at the time, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.
