Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury.
Coach Jared Bednar said Tuesday that Landeskog “is going to miss some significant time.”
Landeskog has three goals and four assists this season for the Avalanche, leading the Central Division. They host the Panthers on Wednesday night.
Landeskog, 26, is coming off a 2018-19 season in which he made the All-Star team and finished with a career-best 75 points.
The Avalanche’s top line already is missing forward Mikko Rantanen, out with a lower-body injury.
The contract made Josi the team’s highest-paid player and keeps him off the free-agent market in July.
The 38th pick in the 2008 draft, Josi became the Predators’ eighth captain in September 2017. He was an All-Star last season and played for Switzerland at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Josi was tied for second with five goals and 13 points among NHL defensemen.
