A Rockets fan has been charged with punching a Pelicans coach at the end of a game between the teams.

Prosecutors charged Manuel Garcia with misdemeanor assault for allegedly punching Pelicans assistant coach Joe Boylan in the face Saturday. His girlfriend was also arrested for allegedly preventing police from getting to Garcia.

Harris County District Attorney’s Office prosecutor Nathan Beedle said he wouldn’t speculate on a motive but “we will get to the bottom of this and hold them both accountable for their actions.”

Waiters back, sort of: Dion Waiters is back with the Heat, though it remains unclear when he will make his season debut.

Waiters was on the inactive list for Tuesday’s game against the Hawks.

“He will work out, he will not be active and then we’ll take it from there,” coach Erik Spoelstra said.

Waiters was suspended Oct. 19 for conduct detrimental to the team, one day after he expressed displeasure with his playing time in the preseason finale.

Al Bianchi, who played for the 76ers and was later an NBA coach and executive, died in Arizona. He was 87. Bianchi was an original member of the 76ers, starting his 10-year career with the Syracuse Nationals in 1956-57 and remaining with the team after it moved to Philadelphia. He later spent two seasons as coach of the Seattle SuperSonics.
