Congratulations to Officer Petit and K9 Officer Zoro
letter to the editor
To the Editor:

Did you know we have a new police officer in Wadsworth? His name is Zoro. Actually, he has been around for the past couple months. He is the new four-legged K9 officer and his commanding officer is Seth Petit.

I understand that he is very friendly with all young and elderly, but when the occasion arises for him to go into action his friendliness changes, as he is now a police officer doing his job to arrest the guilty and protect the innocent.

I, a citizen of Wadsworth, would like to thank Officer Seth Petit for taking on the responsibilities of the K9. He and his family houses and boards the K9 unit, but by now Zoro is also considered a family member, so that also means extra work for all of the family members to do what needs to be done to make Zoro a comfortable member of the Petit family.

Wadsworth had a K9 unit over in past years but not in the past six years, and the city administration never did anything about getting another K9 unit. They instead sponged off of all the surrounding police departments, such as Norton, Doylestown, Rittman, Seville, Lodi and the Medina County Sheriff Department when they needed a K9 unit.

When it comes to this city administration spending money for the betterment of our safety forces, and this includes our EMS and fire services, they just won’t do it.

Once again, thank you Officer Petit and your family for taking on the extra work and liability involved in handling Wadsworth’s much-needed new K9, Zoro.
