If you supported President Donald Trump, stay on board
letter to the editor
To the Editor:

President Donald Trump is in a very unique situation, and so are we. We have the opportunity to halt and reverse years of bureaucratic increase. A total of $20 trillion in debt growth can be stopped and even reduced. Immigration can once again be done in a way that keeps offenders out. Health care could have real options for consumers versus a single-payer government monopoly with no completion. Current retirees on Medicare have no real options and soon realize health care costs take more and more of their income. I believe President Trump and his administration have real solutions to these and a host of other challenges we face.

Many were impressed with his State of the Union Address, only to be turned off with news of his “tweets,” forgetting he is in another unique situation. Former president Barack Obama remains a resident of Washington D.C. Can you recall this ever happening before? Little wonder the speed with which opposition protests and opposition media blitz occur. It is likely Obama is actively involved in and even leads the campaign to oppose the president, and has the full cooperation of the media in doing so. Consider this when wondering why the president uses social media to get his message out. Some think this is not very presidential. Past presidents have used resourceful means to win battles that didn’t at first seem presidential.

That said, consider the unique situation we as observers are in. News reporting in general is very agenda driven. When the Trump Administration develops a solution to a challenge, they’ll be bumps along the way. It’s good to remind ourselves today’s media will not focus on the solution, only the problems along the way, making it seem like President Trump has no workable solutions.

The point is this: Trump and the GOP have till midterm 2018 elections to make progress, and they know it. The liberal led opposition knows it as well. The means by which opposition is carried out have changed. As a result, we’ll see new methods used to combat that opposition. They may not seem presidential. Don’t judge quickly. If you’ve felt support for Trump, don’t change now. We’re not even midstream. If you supported him, stay on board. We can safely reach the other side.
