Thousands of dancers from all over the world traveled to Dublin, Ireland, to compete for the most prestigious title of all, world champion, in the 2017 Irish Dance World Championships. The event was held at the beautiful City West Resort just outside of Dublin. Each age group is split into girls/boys and are judged by seven adjudicators from across the globe.
Medina resident Sophia Barry placed 13th at the world championship. Barry was the No. 1 highest placed dancer from the Mid-American region and No. 2 from North America in the under 16 age group. Barry also won an official world medal (approximately only the top 5 percent of dancers in each age group win one of these).
