The Medina boys rugby team traveled south to take on the Watkins Memorial Warriors on Sunday, April 23. The Bees (6-1) returned with a 24-7 win in a hard-fought match.
The Bees opened the scoring with first half tries from seniors Chris Chrise and Zach Hager. Junior Kevin Lobban added a conversion kick, and Medina headed into halftime with a 12-0 lead.
Senior Tyler Wente extended the lead for the Bees with a try in the corner after a pinpoint pass from senior Alex Wilkinson 10 minutes into the second half. Lobban again slotted the conversion kick to take the lead to 19-0. After a converted try from Watkins Memorial, Wente closed the door on any comeback hopes with a slick intercept try with minutes left in the match to end the game 24-7 in favor of Medina.
