Donald Trump’s Mexico wall project is not ‘infrastructure’

To the Editor:
Buyer beware – Donald Trump said, “I’m going to build the wall and Mexico is going to pay for it.” How many times did we hear that over the past year? Now he says he’s going to build the wall, but the U.S. taxpayers are going to pay for it. He’s claiming that “eventually” Mexico will pay for it and then the taxpayers will get “paid back.” Yeah, right.

This is typical Trump business practice. He has a well documented history of using other people’s money to bankroll his projects and then he reneges on payment. This Mexico wall has a government estimated price tag of as much as $25 to $30 billion. Anyone who pays attention to the costs of government projects knows that by the time all is said and done, Trump’s wall will end up costing the taxpayers double the estimated cost.

Trump’s wall project is not “infrastructure” and will do nothing positive for the vast majority of American taxpayers, especially in Medina County. Now, for the minority of taxpayers who will blindly support whatever Trump proposes – if you like the idea of paying for Trump’s wall, just wait until you see the size of the tax break that Trump is going to give himself and his cronies, you’re going to absolutely love it!
