The current administration should get down to business
To the Editor:
One would think that after all the mudslinging and screaming to “drain the swamp” in this last national election that the majority of elected officials in Washington would get the idea that the American populace wanted them to stop the fighting and get things done! However, it has become quite obvious that the legislative branch of our government are not listening to the voters! They (mainly the Senate) have decided that in-fighting is the preferred way to act in lieu of doing their job. I’ve seen less animosity towards one another from rivals on a football field than in the Congress of the United States!
Neither party’s majority or minority leaders have shown any resemblance of leadership skills in over a decade. And now they can’t even get it together to approve of who will lead the executive branch’s government cabinet positions! They think that they are impressing the electorate by questioning candidates about things like their wealth and how they have used it! How about questioning themselves why 90 percent of Washington legislators go to D.C. with nothing, yet come back home as multi-millionaires? They even think that playing “hooky” from many of the confirmation meetings is the “in” thing to do! America’s school children behave better than these “elected” officials!
This grandstanding hypocrisy does not impress any of America’s citizenry, nor does it get on with solving America’s problems of economics or security. The rest of the world is looking on and our enemies are getting ready to test this new administration. Hey U.S. Senators are you listening? Can you hear us now?
This current administration may not have been the choice of many Americans, but it is the government executive branch for the next four years, so suck it up and get down to business. Stop the fighting and bickering in Washington and start earning your keep. There will be an election in 2018, and those of you up for election just might start thinking of an alternate plan for employment if things don’t change for the better post haste!
