Herbert Edwin Bournival, 89, of Litchfield, died March 13, 2017 at home. Born on May 20, 1927 in Solon, he was the son of the late Hector and Susie (nee Towne) Bournival.

Herbert grew up in Solon and was a graduate of Solon High School, he served in the United States Army, earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and his Master’s from West Virginia University.

Herbert and his family moved to the Litchfield area in the early 70s. He was a high school teacher at North Royalton High School, teaching history and government. He later became assistant principal at North Royalton. Herbert enjoyed fishing, working in his garden and raising beef cattle. After retirement, he and his wife would winter in Eustis, Fla. Herbert was a talented woodworker and would craft with his wife and they enjoyed attending shows to sell their crafts. Most of all, Herbert cherished his family, he liked to attend and support his granddaughters in their activities including horse shows and volleyball games.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Neva (nee Conklin); children, Brian (Su) Bournival, of Tennessee, and Brenda (Mark Duplag) Juszczyk, of Litchfield; and granddaughters Corryn and Carrah Casteel.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Howard Bournival and Clara Duff.
