Julia Van Wagnen, of Medina, achieved the dean’s list at Belmont University for the spring 2017 semester. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality GPA of 3.5 with no grade below a C.
Bluffton University
Daniel Piero, of Medina, earned bachelor’s degrees in physics and math during Bluffton University’s 117th annual commencement ceremony May 7. Piero received the Distinguished Scholar Award for physics. He is also a member of the 2016-17 Pi Delta Society and was a part of the honors program.
Northeast Ohio College of Medicine
At the Northeast Ohio College of Medicine commencement awards banquet, Kyle Unsdorfer, M.D., was recognized with the Outstanding Achievement Award.
This award is given annually to a senior based on exemplary academic accomplishments, class rank and contributions to the college and the community. Kyle performed research at the Mayo Clinic that led to a change in their clinical protocol for treating acute appendicitis in children.
He will be serving his residency in diagnostic radiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He will be doing his internship in internal medicine at Summa Health Systems.
Kyle attended St. Francis in Medina and graduated from Medina High school and The Ohio State University (summa cum laude).
Kyle is the son of Dr. Gary and Jane Unsdorfer, of Medina, and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Roland and Phyllis Unsdorfer, of Solon, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James and Muriel Sacco.
