Elderly man takes deer control into own hands
Medina Police

Aug. 25 – Police were called to a Laurel Glens Drive address at 7:53 p.m. after an elderly man allegedly shot a fawn in his backyard several times with a BB gun. The man reportedly then stabbed the fawn several times with a screwdriver, leaving the still-alive deer for dead in his backyard. Douglas B. Evans, 77, of the address, was arrested for animal cruelty and hunting violations.

Medina Police

Aug. 28 – Police stopped a motorist on Springbrook Drive at 11:38 p.m. for having no license plate light. The officer reported marijuana was in plain view within the vehicle during the traffic stop. Steven L. Simon, 27, of Timber Trail, was cited.

Aug. 28 – Police took a report for illegal trash dumping on an Ivy Hill Lane property at 7:28 a.m.

Aug. 28 – Police were called to conduct a welfare check on a Walter Road man at 5:08 p.m. after having not been heard from by family and friends for days. Akron Police located the man in that jurisdiction. He was reportedly OK.

Aug. 27 – Xanax pills were reported missing from a Nottingham Drive address at 4:34 p.m.

Aug. 25 – Someone left three bags of dog feces in a Harmon Court yard. A report was taken.

Aug. 23 – Police were called to a disturbance at a Wadsworth Road address at 11:22 p.m. The boyfriend of the resident's teenage daughter was advised to leave the property.

Aug. 23 – An officer responded to a disturbance at a Canterbury Lane address at 9:29 p.m. after a juvenile was reportedly refusing bedtime.

Aug. 23 – Shana Sivaggio, 43, of Bronson Street, was arrested for shoplifting at a North Court Street business.

Aug. 22 – A juvenile was arrested for domestic violence after reportedly hitting their younger sister with a spatula.

Aug. 21 – Police responded to a domestic incident and arrested Andre I. Wilson, 34, of Akron, on an active warrant.

Montville Township Police

Aug. 12 – A caller reported seeing a truck on Wadsworth Road throw debris into the weeds from the roadway. She turned around to get a license plate number but the vehicle was gone. Police checked the area but nothing was located.

Aug. 10 – A Stonebrook Lane female reported discovering her husband's wedding band in her bird bath when she returned home. She said she believed he signed divorce papers that day and requested extra patrol.

Aug. 10 – Trails End Drive residents reported their neighbors verbally harassed them on their property. A trespass notice was issued to the neighbors, in which they advised they understood the possible consequences.

Aug. 10 – A Trystin Tree Drive resident reported hearing sounds like a hammer striking metal at 2:35 a.m. Police checked the area but found nothing unusual.

Aug. 9 – Police reported seeing a silver Ford Focus traveling at a high rate of speed on River Styx Road. Police made contact with the driver, Krystal Darienzo, who reportedly appeared to be very nervous. Police found she had a warrant through Montville police and Strongsville police for failure to appear. She was issued a citation and taken to Medina County Jail.

Aug. 7 – Two juvenile boys reported a man in a black truck tried to lure them into his vehicle on Crowne Pointe Drive. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

Aug. 6 – Someone reported 10 juveniles were running behind houses on Lexington Ridge Drive. Police could not locate them.

Medina County Sheriff's Office

Aug. 19 – An individual working at the Medina County Historical Society wished to turn in five rounds of ammunition that is believed to have been from World War I.

Aug. 18 – A 27-year-old Akron man was cited for driving under suspension and driving on a closed road for allegedly driving in the construction area at Granger and Ridge Roads in Granger Township at 8:54 p.m.

Aug. 17 – During a police encounter at a county motel, a male, Matthew Thomas, 31, of Clinton, was allegedly found to be in possession of Xanax and allegedly admitted to selling it. He was charged with felony drug possession and trafficking. Two others, Alysha Fairbanks, 27, and Zachary Taylor, 29, both allegedly had methamphetamine and tried to flush it down the toilet. They were charged with possession of methamphetamine and tampering with evidence.

Aug. 14 – A building on Elyria Road in York Township was broken into and several tools, including a welder, torch set and air compressor, were taken. Some of the items were recovered in Lorain County and a Grafton man was suspected.

Aug. 14 – A pizza delivery driver reported being bitten on the left calf by a dog during a delivery on Ryan Road in Lafayette Township at 7:50 p.m.

Aug. 14 – Cash was reported missing from a cash box located inside a barn on Ridge Road in Granger Township. A Medina man is suspected.

Aug. 13 – Around $160 in cash was taken from the wallet of someone shopping at a South Medina Line Road business in Sharon Township at 3:30 p.m.

Aug. 8 – A disturbance at a Ridge Road business in Granger Township was reported at 9:45 p.m. A unwanted male, James Benson Jr., 21, of Chippewa Lake, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, sexual imposition and aggravated menacing.

Aug. 6 – Multiple citations were issued for underage possession of alcohol after deputies broke up an underage party at a Ridgewood Road address in Sharon Township around 12:15 a.m.

Aug. 5 – An altercation between two females was discovered at the Medina County Fairgrounds at 7:14 p.m. Carolyn Grace, 30, of Medina, was arrested for disorderly conduct.
