Elizabeth Scott Bres, 93, passed away Jan. 24, 2018. She was born on April 12, 1924 on a mountain top in Sewanee, Tenn. to Professor John Mark Scott of the University of the South and his wife Louise Scott.
Betty was a graduate of Sophie Newcomb Memorial College (Tulane University) in New Orleans. After college, she married Harold (Hal) Adams Bres Jr. on Jan. 23, 1944, when he was a Naval Officer. They lived in many different states, from coast to coast, and in Trinidad, West Indies. Betty was always very involved with her church wherever they lived and was often a member of the Altar Guild.
Betty will be missed by many and the world will miss her smile and positive attitude. She leaves behind four children, Marc Siewert (husband Delynn) of Lethbridge, Canada, Kim Kelly (husband Bill) and Scott Bres (wife Pam) both of Medina and Dana Bres (wife Mimi) of Arlington, Va.; eight grandchildren, Dawn Goepfert (husband Simon) of Switzerland, Daryl Little of Colorado, Kelly Horvath (husband JP), Lyndie Gillihan (husband Patrick) and Jaclyn Dalziel (husband Nick), all of Medina, Shaun Siewert (wife Lyla), David Little (wife Corrine) and Glenn Siewert (wife Norinne), all of Canada. She also leaves 16 great-grandchildren: Ireland, Brooklyn, Liam, Emeric, Elora, Samatha, McKayla, Alshya, Charity, Steven, Angie, Isabelle, Sarah, Emma, Alban and Connor; 10 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Louise Lee of New Orleans; nieces, Mary Lou and Suzanne; and nephew. Albert.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul’s Memorial Fund, the American Red Cross or the charitable organization of your choice.
