Walter S. Dailey
Walter S. Dailey, 95, of Valley City, passed away peacefully Jan. 21, 2018, following a short illness.
Walter was born in Olive Hill, Ky., on Sept. 9, 1922, to the late Albert and Edith (nee Wilburn) Dailey. He lived in Cleveland before moving to Valley City in 1971. He was a retired machine operator at General Motors for 30 years, a member of the Local #105 UAW and actively involved in the Valley City VFW Post #5563.
He had served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and woodworking.
Walter will be greatly missed by his family and a multitude of friends, including nieces, Sandy Adkins, Brenda (Ernie) Gillum, Melinda (Jack) Rodgers, and Rhonda (Reuben) Holik; and nephews, Randy (Phyllis) Dailey and Mark (Janette) Dailey. Many grand-nieces and nephews will mourn his loss, along with sister, Inez Nolen.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Adeline, who passed on June 13, 2000; they had been married 46 years; and brothers, O.T., Roger and Webster Dailey.
Family and friends gathered for calling hours Jan. 25 at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City. Burial was at St. Martin Church Cemetery, Valley City.
