Tax gas instead of T riders
T FARES are going up, and gasoline costs are half what they were two years ago. How is it fair that drivers pay less when T riders have to pay more?
The Saudis and other oil-producing states have given us a huge gift by lowering our fuel costs. We should take advantage of this gift and increase the state gas tax. The proceeds could help support the T and provide badly needed resources to repair roads. I understand why voters rejected automatic indexing for gas tax increases in 2014. But now is the time for state legislators to show some backbone and increase the gas tax.
