Truman Otheman Smith
Truman Otheman Smith, 86, of Medina, passed away Jan. 29, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born in Cleveland on March 7, 1931 to the late Truman Bootman and Thelma (Schauffle) Smith.

While earning his bachelor’s degree, Truman played football at Denison University under Woody Hayes. He later earned his master’s degree in counseling from John Carroll University. Truman served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later protected it as a part-time police officer for Woodmere. Truman worked as a guidance counselor in the Cleveland Heights/University Heights School District for 25 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carol V. (Donaldson) Smith; devoted daughters, Allison (Kurt) Aukerman, Stacy (Daniel) Schwaderer and Jennifer (Scott) Stachler; dear grandchildren, Macey and Spencer Aukerman, Taylor, Travis and Truman Karczewski, Danielle (Peter) Lux, Travis and Austin Schwaderer and Savanah, Gretchen and Michael Stachler.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Smith.
