HBO threw a viewing party Sunday night for the season premiere of “Game of Thrones.’’

The affair, held at Revere Hotel’s Theatre 1, included a pre-show beer tasting featuring “Thrones’’-inspired beverages from Brewery Ommegang. (Flavors include Seven Kingdoms, Valar Morghulis, and Iron Throne.)

Guests also got to see Roose Bolton (a.k.a. actor Michael McElhatton), whom HBO sent to chat with fans.

We spoke to McElhatton before the screening and he did his best to protect spoilers from the season. Asked whether Jon Snow lives or dies (or something in between), McElhatton wouldn’t say.

The actor is used to keeping secrets. He said it’s been “five years of saying nothing.’’

You might be wondering how people got on the guest list for the HBO festivities. HBO tells us that the invite list represented Facebook fans, and people who were at this past weekend’s PAX convention.
