Legendary media personalities Bob Schieffer and David Hartman were honored by the New England Historic Genealogical Society Friday evening, presented with Lifetime Achievement Awards to recognize their long careers in broadcast news. At the event, a family history-themed benefit dinner held at Four Seasons Hotel, both men were also presented with detailed stories about their ancestry, researched and compiled by the Society’s genealogists. Hartman, a longtime former host of ABC’s “Good Morning America,’’ and Schieffer, who left his post as moderator of CBS’s “Face the Nation’’ last spring after nearly 25 years with the political news program, also discussed their broadcasting careers, world affairs, and personal interests with moderator Bill Griffeth, anchor of CNBC’s “Closing Bell’’ and a trustee of the Society.
