As a classified employee of Woodland Joint Unified School District, Brandee Quinones is doing her part to ensure that all WJUSD students graduate and are prepared for college or a career.

Quinones is currently serving as a noon duty supervisor for Tafoya Elementary School. A noon duty supervisor supervises and monitors students on school grounds, in the cafeteria, and in school buildings to ensure student safety and student compliance with school and district policies and regulations.

“I’m responsible for helping kids at lunch and also watching them during recess to make sure they are safe,” Quinones said. “What I like best about the job is the kids. Watching them grow makes me so happy.”

Like any job, being a noon duty supervisor is not without its challenges.

“Sometimes students have bad days and don’t always follow the rules,” said Quinones, who has been in the position for two years. “You have to be patient and really love being around children.”

Classified staff are district employees, other than credentialed teachers, who provide a variety of high-quality services to students. Their roles are essential to the district’s mission of preparing all students for a future of endless possibilities.

“We help by having people who truly care about our students,” said Quinones. “People who really want to see our students become successful. I also want to thank all the hardworking teachers. They do so much for our children and I’m truly grateful for them.”
