Promoters announced two big rock shows coming this summer to the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill County Park in Sterling Heights.
First up is Primus — featuring their new drummer who was selected from more than 6,200 musicians around the world — hitting the road with the Onward & Upward Tour.
Drummer John “Hoffer” Hoffman joins Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde as the trio explores various full-length Primus sets as they dip into deep cuts of past material. He was chosen because of his “deep pocket, wild musical mind, and immediate chemistry” with his bandmates, according to press materials.
“Hitting the road this summer with Hoffer at the helm,” Claypool said in a news release. “This fiery, cheerful, octopus-like drummer from Shreveport, Louisiana has breathed a very potent breath of freshness into this band we all call Primus.”
They are scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16. Ty Segall is the opener.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday at 313Presents.com, LiveNation.com, Primusville.com and Ticketmaster.com. A VIP & Artist Presale launches at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
American rock band Chevelle announce their highly anticipated return to the stage with special guests Asking Alexandria and Dead Poet Society. Produced by Live Nation, the 38-city tour includes a stop at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre on Tuesday, August 19 at 7 p.m.
