Homeowners and people who rent houses, apartments or townhomes can find a wealth of resources in one place next week.
A free housing resource fair starts at 4 p.m. Monday, March 31, at the Bowen Senior Center, 52 Bagley St. in Pontiac.
State Rep. Brenda Carter’s office organized speakers and information tables for attendees. Anyone who needs help with property taxes, home repair, home purchase or landlord-tenant issues will find resources for their challenges and more.
“I’m also bringing officials from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development,” she said, adding that there are lots of challenges to owning or renting a home.
People will be able to get answers and support on rent or foreclosure issues and questions about their community’s code enforcement rules.
Among the speakers:
• State Rep. Emily Dievendorf (D-Lansing)
• Oakland County Treasurer Robert Wittenberg
• Pontiac Code Enforcement Manager Jack McIntyre
• Zachary Crawford, Office of Congresswoman Haley Stevens
• Michigan State Housing Development Authority
• Catholic Community Response Team
• Pontiac resident Leona Patterson, who will talk about Lancaster Community Life Center, where she was director for more than 10 years, and the Carriage Place units. Lancaster and Carriage Place are in Pontiac.
This housing resource fair is free and open to the public.
