The Ontario Elks Lodge recently presented an award to Joe Blackstock for his coverage of Run for the Wall, a veterans’ group that honors POW/MIA service members with an annual motorcycle ride from the West Coast to Washington, D.C., in May.

The Ontario Elks Lodge hosted the kickoff of this year’s Run for the Wall, and Blackstock wrote a story about the coast-to-coast ride, including an interview with one of the veterans involved, that ran in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, The Sun, The Press-Enterprise and the Redlands Daily Facts.

The Run for the Wall, which began in 1989, has three routes from the West Coast to Washington, D.C., with riders arriving in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Blackstock, whose newspaper career included working as an editor for the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, writes a column on Inland Empire history for the Southern California News Group.

The Ontario Elks Lodge is at 1150 W. Fourth St., Ontario. For information, go to elks.org/lodges/home.cfm?lodgenumber=1419 or call 909-984-2777.
