1. LA MIRADA (20-4)
The Matadores won the big area showdown with California, 4-3, in nine innings in the semifinals of their La Mirada tournament. But Orange Lutheran was too much for the Mats in the finals, winning 13-3. Still, no reason to drop the Mats from the top spot.

2. CHARTER OAK (10-0)
The Chargers are the only undefeated team in the CIF Southern Section and No. 5 overall in the section’s computer rankings that will help decide playoff divisions. But the Chargers haven’t played a tough schedule or many games, leaving some to wonder if they can hang with the best of the best in the playoffs.

3. WHITTIER CHRISTIAN (20-5)
The Heralds finished the La Mirada tournament with wins over La Serna (3-2) and Schurr (5-1). They’re 6-0 in the Olympic League and can clinch the league title outright in their May 1 game against Valley Christian.

4. LA HABRA (16-7)
The Highlanders improved to 7-0 in the Freeway League before having a six-game winning streak snapped in a nonleague loss to Gahr, 7-3. They face Villa Park and Sonora twice this week.

5. GANESHA (17-4-1)
The Giants were No. 44 overall in the most recent CIF-SS computer rankings that will help decide playoff divisions, which likely places them in Division 2. They’re 9-0 in the overmatched Miramonte League.

6. SOUTH HILLS (14-6-1)
The Huskies finished the La Mirada tournament with an impressive 14-4 win over California. They host Los Altos on Wednesday with a chance to move into a first-place tie in the Hacienda League.

7. CALIFORNIA (14-9)
The Condors lost La Serna, 7-2, in the Del Rio League, followed by two losses in the La Mirada tournament. They played No. 1 La Mirada tough in a 3-2 loss in nine innings, then were routed by South Hills, 14-4.

8. SCHURR (18-5-1)
The Spartans had a four-game winning streak snapped by Whittier Christian with a 5-1 loss in the La Mirada tournament. They have a 7-0 record in the Almont League. Next big game is against Keppel on April 29.

9. LOS ALTOS (14-8)
The Conquerors moved to 3-0 in the Hacienda League with solid wins over Alta Loma (6-2) and San Dimas (4-2). Ended the week with a 15-2 loss to Chino. They take on South Hills on Wednesday after beating the Huskies 6-0 in their first meeting.

10. BONITA (15-8)
The Bearcats got two much-needed wins in the Palomares League, beating Glendora (3-2) and Claremont (11-0) to improve to 7-3 in league. They are in second place along with Glendora (7-3).
