Aaron Judge had four hits to get his average back above .400 and Ben Rice hit a grand slam to lead the New York Yankees to a 12-2 victory over the Athletics on Sunday in West Sacramento.

Judge hit a two-run single in a five-run second inning against former teammate Luis Severino (1-4) and added hits in his final three at-bats to raise his average on the season to .409.

The AL East-leading Yankees broke the game open in the fifth when Rice hit his first career grand slam after Mitch Spence had relieved an ineffective Severino.

The former Yankees starter struggled in his first career start against his former team, matching a career worst with eight earned runs allowed in four-plus innings.

Ryan Yarbrough (1-0) allowed two runs in five innings in his second start of the season to get the win.

The A’s (21-20) fell to 8-13 at home this season.

Cardinals 6, Nationals 1: Lars Nootbaar, Willson Contreras and Nolan Arenado homered, and St. Louis won at Washington to complete a three-game sweep ancd extend its winning streak to eight games, its longest since August of 2022.

Miles Mikolas (2-2) allowed one run on four hits over 5 1/3 innings with five strikeouts and one walk.

Nootbaar cranked his sixth homer of the season and seventh leadoff homer of his career well into the second deck in right field on the fifth pitch from MacKenzie Gore (2-4).

Rockies 9, Padres 3: Hunter Goodman hit a double, a triple a home run and had five RBIs to help Colorado defeat San Diego and snap an eight-game losing streak.

Germán Márquez (1-6) pitched seven innings and gave up a run on three hits.

Goodman’s triple off Nick Pivetta (5-2) drove in two runs in the third inning.

Pivetta gave up six runs on seven hits with two walks over four innings.

Twins 7, Giants 6 (10): DaShawn Keirsey Jr. singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as Minnesota edged San Francisco to stretch its winning streak to eight games.

Heliot Ramos had a home run and four RBIs for the Giants, while Brooks Lee homered and had three hits for Minnesota.

Twins starter Pablo López gave up four runs on five hits over six innings and left with the lead. But the Giants tied it in the eighth.

Mets 6, Cubs 2: Francisco Lindor hit a go-ahead homer to start a four-run eighth inning and New York won at home over Chicago in a clash of division leaders.

Lindor snapped a 2-2 tie against Porter Hodge (2-1) by lifting a sweeper over the right-center field fence.

Mark Vientos homered off Matthew Boyd to give the Mets the lead in the sixth and added an RBI single in the eighth, which was followed by Brandon Nimmo’s two-run homer.

The win gave the Mets a 15-4 home record.

Former Mets’ first-round pick Pete Crow-Armstrong homered off Griffin Canning in the sixth and Nico Hoerner hit a tying double in the seventh as the Cubs lost for the fourth time in five games.

Phillies 3, Guardians 0: Kyle Schwarber homered twice to tie Aaron Judge for the MLB lead and extended his on-base streak to 46 games, and Zack Wheeler struck out eight over seven innings as Philadelphia won at Cleveland.

Schwarber hit a solo shot off Luis Ortiz in the second inning and a two-run blast off Tim Herrin in the eighth for his 14th longball of the season and 32nd career multi-homer game.

Wheeler (4-1) only permitted two runners to get past first base in his third consecutive win, giving up three hits with two walks.

Rangers 6, Tigers 1: Nathan Eovaldi tossed seven shutout innings, Marcus Semien and Josh Jung hit two-run homers and Texas won at Detroit.

Eovaldi (4-2) limited the Tigers to two hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Jonah Heim added a solo homer for Texas, which took two of three games from Detroit. The Rangers had lost their last six series while the Tigers had won their first five home series this season.

Detroit starter Reese Olson (4-3) allowed three runs and seven hits with five strikeouts in four innings.

Astros 6, Reds 0: Ronel Blanco struck out a career-high 11 in eight innings and Shawn Dubin completed the two-hitter to lead Houston over visiting Cincinnati.

Yainer Diaz hit a three-run homer in the third to give Houston an early lead and Christian Walker added two hits and three RBIs.

Blanco (3-3) retired the first nine batters, with six strikeouts.

Blue Jays 9, Mariners 1: George Springer smacked a three-run homer in the fifth inning as Toronto beat Seattle Mariners to complete a three-game road sweep.

The Blue Jays had no issues pushing runs across against Bryce Miller (2-4) and the suddenly reeling Mariners, who entered the series with the majors’ best record since April 7.

Pirates 4, Braves 3: Joey Bart had three hits, including the game-winning infield single in the bottom of the ninth as Pittsburgh beat Atlanta.

Pinch-hitter Sean Murphy pulled the Braves into a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning when he lined a three-run double.

Red Sox 3, Royals 1: Rafael Devers’ 440-foot homer snapped a 1-1 tie and Lucas Giolito pitched into the seventh inning for his first win since 2023 as Boston beat host Kansas City.

Giolito (1-1) allowed two singles and one unearned run in 6 2/3 innings to get his first win for Boston. He missed last season with a partially torn elbow ligament, and his last victory was for Cleveland on Sept. 15, 2023.

Brewers 4, Rays 2: Christian Yelich and William Contreras hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning for Milwaukee in a road win against Tampa Bay.

White Sox 4, Marlins 2: Tim Elko hit a three-run homer — his first hit in the major leagues — in the sixth to help Chicago beat visiting Miami.
