The Yolo County Board of Supervisors honored Yolo County’s State Senator Bill Dodd during its most recent meeting, recognizing the decades of service he’s given his state and community as he approaches the end of his allotted term in office.

“We’re really grateful for all of his work representing Yolo County over the last decade,” Board Chair Lucas Frerichs said. “We’re really grateful for all he has done and his friendship … we just wanted to recognize Sen. Dodd as he approaches the end of his service.”

Dodd represents the 3rd Senate District, which includes parts of the Bay Area, Sacramento Valley, and the Napa Valley region. He was first elected to the California State Senate in 2018 and has a strong background in public service and leadership at the local and state levels.

Bob Dodd was born and raised in the region he now serves, which has helped shape his commitment to the local community. Prior to his election to the State Senate, Dodd was actively involved in both public service and business. He owned and operated one of the largest full-service Culligan Water operations in California, as well as d served as president of the water quality industry’s state and national trade associations.

Before serving in the Senate, Dodd served on the Napa County Board of Supervisors, where he played a key role in addressing public safety, economic development and regional planning issues.

Dodd then served the 4th Assembly District, where he worked to help small businesses, protect the environment, and support seniors and working families.

He helped establish the state’s Earned Income Tax Credit, promoted career technical education, and created the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument, which preserved over 330,000 acres of the California Coast Ranges in Napa, Yolo, Solano, Lake, Colusa, Glenn, and Mendocino counties.

As a state senator, Dodd’s legislative work focused on a wide range of issues including public safety, healthcare, education, infrastructure and economic development.

He is a strong advocate for issues that directly impact the communities he represents, such as wildfire prevention and response, as well as climate change adaptation. Sen. Dodd and his wife, Mary, live in Napa and have five grown children and 13 grandchildren.

“It’s been an honor and a privilege to be able to represent Yolo County,” Dodd said. “It’s just been an honor and a privilege to be able to work with all of you on these things that we’ve been able to do.”
