A 37-year-old man was arrested on allegations he attacked a Marin County sheriff’s deputy investigating a burglary in Sleepy Hollow.

The incident happened at about 2 a.m. Sunday after a resident reported a person yelling and “items breaking” at Hidden Valley Elementary School, Deputy Stephanie Ware said. A deputy saw the suspect exit through a classroom window and chased him.

During a struggle, the suspect allegedly put the deputy in a chokehold and threatened to kill him. The deputy broke free and the suspect was detained, Ware said.

Connor Hanley of San Rafael was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of vandalism, attempted burglary, making a criminal threat, battery against a peace officer, obstructing law enforcement, trespassing and violating his conditions of probation. The Marin County District Attorney’s Office filed related charges Monday, and an arraignment was scheduled Tuesday.

Hanley remained in custody Tuesday in lieu of $50,000 bail.
