Anyone interested in seeing how the Oakland County clerk’s office counts ballots can attend Monday’s public accuracy test.
The test verifies that voting equipment used for absentee ballot counting and early voting is functioning, accurate and secure.
The clerk’s office hosts this test before every election. The next election is May 6. Ballot issues include:
• Ferndale Schools’ 30-year, $114.8 million bond proposal;
• Ferndale Schools’ 10-year, 5.44 millage request, which if approved would generate nearly $5.4 million for operations in 2026;
• Lamphere Schools’ 30-year, $85 million bond proposal;
• Clawson’s two charter amendment requests. The first would rescind the 2023 charter plan to add two seats to city council and maintain the board as four seats plus the mayor. The second would change city council members’ terms of office to four years for the three with the most votes and two years for the fourth. The mayor would remain on the council in either case.
The absentee-vote counting board meets 9 a.m. Monday, April 14, in the Oakland County Board of Canvassers Training Room at the county courthouse, 1200 N. Telegraph Road in Pontiac for the public accuracy test. The public is asked to use the west entrance.
Early voting for the May 6 election starts at 9 a.m. Friday, April 18.
