There’s still time to nominate a child for the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley’s Dr. Janice Lemann Kind Kid Award.
The award, intended to celebrate children who show compassion, empathy and kindness, is part of the Humane Society’s Humane Education Program, which focuses on animal welfare issues, human rights and environmental sustainability, according to a news release from the Humane Society.
The Dr. Janice Lemann Kind Kid Award shines a spotlight on children who go above and beyond to make a positive impact. Lemann promoted the value of nurturing youth with the responsibilities and compassion learned from the care and love of animals, according to the news release.
Parents, friends, teachers and community members are encouraged to fill out a nomination application, available at hssbv.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/ 08/Kind-Kid-1-app.pdf and at the Humane Society, 374 W. Orange Show Road, San Bernardino. Nominations are accepted through Nov. 30.
After reviewing the applications, the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley will select one nominee to receive the Dr. Janice Lemann Kind Kid Award.
The winner will receive a $100 scholarship and will be honored as the Hero of the Night during the Jan. 4 Ontario Reign hockey game, in addition to being recognized in the Humane Society’s quarterly newsletter and on its social media platforms, according to the news release.
