Even though it was already eliminated from advancing in the FIFA Club World Cup, LAFC had a chance to go out on a positive note.

Denis Bouanga scored in the 84th minute to put LAFC ahead and needing to hang on for six-plus minutes to secure a victory over Flamengo on Tuesday night at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla.

That lead was brief, as Wallace Yan netted the equalizer 2 minutes later in what turned out a 1-1 draw.

The one point was enough for the Brazlian side, which had already secured its spot in the knockout round, to finish at the top of Group D, a point ahead of Chelsea.

LAFC went 0-2-1 in its first appearance in the tournament.

Even though it was outplayed much of the match — outshot 19-5 and outpossessed 66%-34% — LAFC had a near-miss as Mark Delgado hit the far post in the first half. And then it appeared that LAFC had scored its first goal of the tournament — after a 2-0 loss to Chelsea and a 1-0 loss to ES Tunis — in the 38th minute on a header from Marlon. But the goal was disallowed due to an offsides call.

The Black and Gold finally got their first goal late in the match, when Bouanga raced past the Flamengo defense and deposited a shot past keeper Agustin Rossi.

Flamengo came right back, with Yan running through a porous LAFC defense and blasting a shot past keeper Hugo Loris from just outside the penalty spot.

Flamengo will face Bayern Munich in the round of 16 Sunday at Miami Gardens, Fla.

Borussia Dortmund 1, Ulsan Hyundai 0: Daniel Svensson scored in the 36th minute for the German side before 8,239 on a 93-degree afternoon in Cincinnati.

Dortmund won Group F with seven points to advance to the second round. Uslan was 0-3.

Fluminense 0, Mamelodi Sundowns 0: The scoreless draw denied the South African club the win they needed to advance to the knockout round.

Fluminense finished second in Group F to Borussia Dortmund. The Sundowns needed a win to advance.

Chelsea 3, Esperance 0: At Philadelphia, Liam Delap scored his first goal for Chelsea and Enzo Fernández had two assists in a win that helped the Premier League power clinch a berth in the knockout round.
