MOBILE, Ala. >> Former TCU receiver Jack Bech caught the winning touchdown pass and was named MVP of the Senior Bowl on Saturday, a month after his older brother was among 14 killed in the deadly pickup truck attack in New Orleans.

Martin “Tiger” Bech was among those killed when the driver of a pickup sped down Bourbon Street when it was packed with holiday revelers early on New Year’s Day. The attack also injured about 30 people.
The older Bech played at Princeton, and his brother wore his No. 7 in his honor at the Senior Bowl. They both played high school football in Louisiana.

Controversial use of Carbon Monoxide breathing banned >> Cycling’s governing body has banned the repeated use of carbon monoxide rebreathing that some riders misuse to artificially increase their performances.
Following a meeting of its executive committee on Saturday in France, the UCI said it approved a ban on repeated inhalation to protect the health of riders. The ban starts on Feb. 10.
The inhalation will, however, continue to be authorized “within a medical facility and under the responsibility of a medical professional experienced in the handling of this gas for medical reasons,” the UCI said.
The use of carbon monoxide was put in the spotlight during the Tour de France when the cycling website Escape Collective reported that riders from multiple teams inhaled the toxic gas to optimize altitude training.
