Is there enough evidence to advance the case against a Pontiac felon facing several criminal charges in connection with a shooting last month — which injured one person?

That’s what 50th District Judge Ronda Fowlkes will decide on June 6, when a preliminary exam is held for the case against Timothy Suave Williams, 36, for an April 18 incident outside the Newman Court Apartments in Pontiac. Williams is charged with assault with intent to murder, firearms possession by a prohibited person, and two counts of felony firearm for the shooting which caused a gunshot wound to her shoulder.

The most serious charge against Williams, assault with intent to murder, is punishable by up to life in prison.

The injured woman and Williams were previously involved in a dating relationship, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Williams turned himself in to law enforcement six days after the shooting. The shooting was witnessed by several people, including children, the prosecutor’s office said.

Williams’ criminal history includes convictions for three armed robberies in Oakland County. In 2013, he was sentenced to 11 — 40 years in prison. He was on parole at the time of the shooting.

Williams is held in the Oakland County Jail with bond set at $250,000. He also has a hold from the Michigan Department of Corrections for parole violation.

At the preliminary exam, the judge will be presented with evidence and then determine whether the case will be bound over to Oakland County Circuit Court for possible trial.
