A Park Forest man was shot to death Tuesday in Dolton, authorities said.

The Lake County, Ind., coroner’s office ruled the death of James Miller, 21, a homicide, according to Scott Sefton, chief deputy coroner.

Sefton said Miller was pronounced dead at 5:50 p.m. at Franciscan Health Hammond, where he had been taken after the shooting in Dolton.

Sefton said Miller died of gunshot wounds he received near a currency exchange in the 15000 block of Lincoln Avenue. The business is near Illinois 394 and Sibley Boulevard.

According to WGN-TV, Miller was shot while in a car and was seated near a baby.

Dolton police did not immediately respond to a request for more information Wednesday.
