The Erie Board of Trustees were updated on the floor plans and funding for the Town Hall renovation project.

Town Administrator Malcom Fleming gave the Board an update on May 23. He noted that during a Feb. 28 Board of Trustees meeting, the Board supported the option to do a full renovation and three-story addition to Town Hall and directed town staff to come back with more information about the renovation as well as a funding plan.

The plans show how the existing building will be renovated and how a three-story building will be added to the existing building.

Fleming said that the plan is to break ground for the new building in November and complete it by December 2024. Meanwhile, he said that the renovation is expected to begin December 2024 and be completed by August 2025. Fleming said that the total cost for the renovation is $20.1 million, with $4 million coming from the town’s general fund.

“Because we have a combination of staff that work in Town Hall that work in utilities, billing staff (and) stormwater staff, it is appropriate to use funding from those enterprise funds to help fund this space that those staff are working in,” Fleming said.

The public facilities impact fund will contribute approximately $9.9 million, the water fund will contribute approximately $4.3 million, the wastewater fund will contribute approximately $1.7 million and the storm drainage fund will contribute approximately $1 million to the Town Hall expansion project.
