Man in custody after Gunbarrel King Soopers lockdown

A man has been taken into custody after an incident that triggered a lockdown at a King Soopers in Gunbarrel on Monday.

Dionne Waugh, a spokesperson for the Boulder Police Department, said at 2:45 p.m. Monday, police received a call about a man with a gun who was inside a car in the store’s parking lot.

The store is located in the 6500 block of Lookout Road.

Officers responded and placed the grocery store on lockdown while they investigated.

According to Waugh, the police took the man into custody, and no one was injured.

Officers found two firearms inside the car, and the man was charged with DUI and prohibited use of weapons.

OUR Center, Parent Engagement Network offer resilience talk

The OUR Center and the Parent Engagement Network are partnering to present talk on “A Recipe for Resilience” at 6:30 p.m. June 21 at the OUR Center.

The free talk will include strategies, discussion and steps to help participants with ways they can build resiliency for themselves and their families.

Dinner, child care and Spanish interpretation will be provided upon request.

BROOMFIELD

Library hosts used book sale

The Broomfield Library will hold a used book sale on Saturday.

Led by the Broomfield Library Friends Foundation, the book sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Broomfield Library auditorium lobby.

Hardback books will be $2, paperbacks will be $1 and children’s books are two for $1.

In addition, for the last hour of the sale all books will be 50% off or $10 for a brown paper bag full of books.

ERIE

Pride month to be celebrated with event Sunday

The town of Erie will hold its second annual Pride event with a range of activities slated for Sunday.

Being Better Neighbors, an Erie-based nonprofit, will host a Pride celebration in Downtown Erie on Briggs Street, between Moffat and Cheesman streets, from 3 to 7 p.m.

BBN states that the event will be a celebration of people coming together in love and friendship to support the LGBTQ community.

The event will also have family-friendly activities, food trucks, vendors, music and entertainment.
