



Santa Cruz’s Adam Bartlett tied for seventh place at the World Surf League’s Live Like Zander Junior Pro In Loving Memory Zander Venezia at Soup Bowl, Bathsheba, Barbados, on Sunday.
It was the 17-year-old’s best finish in a Junior Tour event in three tries. His previous best finish was 17th at the SLO CAL Open at Pismo Beach in January.
He finished fourth in his semifinal heat at the 1,000-point JT event, held in 1- to 4-foot conditions.
Bartlett caught five waves and counted wave scores of 3.97 and 5.67 for a two-wave total of 9.64.
Will Deane (14.00) of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, and Hayden Rodgers (12.40) of San Clemente advanced from the semifinal. Lucas Cassity (12.37) of Baja California Sur, Mexico, took third in and was also eliminated. He tied for fifth overall.
Kai Kushner (15.00) of Manhattan Beach, took first in the other semifinal, and Wheeler Hasburgh (12.54) of Invermere Canada, also advanced. Eeli Timperi (12.06) of Finland, and Logan Radd (5.37) of Satellite Beach, Florida, were eliminated.
Deane (15.60) took first in the final, and was followed by Hasburgh (14.17), Kushner (14.07), and Rodgers (13.53).
