2. ARCADIA (8-0)
How good are the Apaches? They’re the San Gabriel Valley Pizza Chalet champions and have allowed only 11 runs in eight games. They make a good case for being No. 1 and will have more chances with nonleague games coming up against Damien and Orange Lutheran.

The normally slow-starting Lancers are off to a quick start. They are already 3-0 in the Del Rey League after a 7-0 win over St. Paul and two-game sweep of Paraclete. Pitcher Justin Peinado has a 0.48 ERA in 14 2/3 innings with 15 strikeouts.

6. SAN MARINO (8-2)
The Titans earned a 6-4 victory over South Hills and followed it with an 8-1 win over Cerritos. When senior JJ Wilson is pitching, they’re tough to beat. Wilson is 3-0 with a 0.64 ERA in 22 innings with 21 strikeouts.

7. SOUTH HILLS (4-3)
Pitching looked great in a 1-0 win over Bonita in nine innings, but they followed with a 6-4 nonleague loss to San Marino. They bounced back with a 5-4 win over Ayala on Monday. Finding consistency has been hard for the Huskies.

8. BONITA (3-3)
The Bearcats have lost three straight. They are having problems scoring runs, which was evident in a 1-0 loss to South Hills in nine innings. They have just three runs over their last 24 innings.

9. SAN DIMAS (4-3)
The Saints were shut out by Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 3-0, but also had a solid 10-2 win over Agoura last week. Tuesday’s game against Bonita was rained out, but it has good matchups coming up against Centennial and South Hills.

10. CALIFORNIA (5-1)
The Condors make their first appearance in the SGV rankings after a solid start that includes wins over Don Lugo (3-2) and Sonora (3-1). Their only loss was to San Marino. Looks like a good turnaround after going 11-17 last season.
