Duane Minard, the new artistic director of the “Ramona” pageant, will present “Ramona 2025 — What’s Happening at the Amphitheatre? — Transitioning into the Next One Hundred Years” in a program Monday for the Hemet Heritage Foundation.

The program will run 6:30-8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Services, 1111 S. State St., Hemet. It is free and open to the public.

Minard will discuss his vision for “Ramona” and, as a Native American, will offer his perspective on being part of the play as performer and director. There will also be an update on the new documentary “Ramona and the Ballad of Juan Diego” and performances by several “Ramona” cast members, according to a news release.

Minard has been associated with “Ramona” for two decades, including eight seasons as Ysidro, five seasons as Alessandro and 15 seasons as Alessandro’s stunt double. He has also been a member of the Redtail Spirit Dancers and Singers and has participated in the Elder Blessing Scene as a singer, dancer, drummer and actor, according to the news release.

For three seasons, he served as assistant director for Dennis Anderson.

His acting credits include roles in “Where the Summit Meets the Stars,” “Lying With Badgers,” “Bingo Hall” and “Off the Rails,” and he has written California Native-themed plays.

Minard is a member of the Native Voices Artists Ensemble, to which he has contributed as a playwright, stage manager, director, choreographer and actor since 2016.

This year’s “Ramona” performances are April 26 and 27 and May 3, 4, 10 and 11.
