Michigan cornerback Will Johnson, an All-American in 2023 who missed half the 2024 season with a toe injury, has declared for the NFL Draft.

Johnson made the announcement Wednesday on Instagram. He thanked his coaches, including former head coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Jesse Minter and defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale as well as current defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan, his teammates and fans.

“And lastly, to my teammates, my brothers — Thank you for pushing me every day through the ups and downs and becoming a real family that I will have for the rest of my life. Love you boys.”

Johnson played in six games this season and had 14 tackles and two interceptions, both returned for touchdowns. He earned second-team All-Big Ten honors from the media vote and honorable mention from the coaches this year.

He is No. 2 on ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper’s Big Board. Johnson set the Michigan career record with three pick-sixes in his career. He did not allow a touchdown in coverage for the second straight season (503 total coverage snaps).

Johnson, a five-star recruit out of Grosse Pointe South, is the second Wolverine to declare for the NFL Draft in as many days, following defensive lineman Mason Graham.
