Last year’s D1 state runner-up, No. 2 Troy, racked up 29 points on its home court to win last Thursday’s regional that also included two other top-10 teams.

Those other ranked sides, also qualified for state from the regional. Fourth-ranked Brother Rice came runner-up with 23 points, and No. 7 Troy Athens punched its ticket by recording 19 points, one more than the requisite.

Along with the top pair of teams from each regional, teams that finish with 18 points also advance to the state finals, as do those individuals not on qualifying teams who make it to the regional championship match in their flight.

In the No. 1 singles final, Brother Rice’s Patrick Cretu, who reached the semifinals in the same bracket at last year’s state tourney, dropped the first set before he got the better of Troy’s Neel Nagappala (3-6, 6-1, 7-5).

Warriors’ Lucas Kello defeated Dhruv Gupta of Troy in the No. 2 singles final, 6-3, 6-2.

Krish Gupta gave the Colts a winner with his three-set triumph over Brother Rice’s Ryan Brockhaus (6-3, 4-6, 6-2) in the No. 3 singles final. The same rang true in the No. 4 singles final as Troy’s Dheeraj Yelleti beat Braeden Spencer of Rice (6-0, 6-1).

Jesse Hao and Derrick Kim of Troy defeated Brother Rice’s Spencer Seneker and Ben Waechter (4-6, 6-2, 7-6) in the No. 1 doubles final. Troy also took the No. 2 doubles final as Varun Shetty and Anthony Wu topped Athens duo Jay Thakkar and Will Diebol (6-4, 6-2).

Red Hawks duo Sam Zoller and Ayush Lingam beat Sourish Darui and Nate Wanstreet (6-3, 6-3) for the No. 3 doubles title, and Colts tandem Raghav Karur and Jackson Kraus dispatched the Athens pair of Suraj Makunar and Shreyan Muddappa (6-3, 6-2) in the No. 4 doubles championship.

Regional 3 at Novi

Third-ranked Northville took first-place team honors, but No. 6 Detroit Catholic Central and No. 9 Novi finished with 22 and 21 points, respectively, to also qualify for state from Friday’s action.

Southfield A&T also tied for seventh place with two points at the meet.

Amogh Mavatoor of Northville won the No. 1 singles title when Catholic Central’s Chase Scagnetti retired in the third set. Shamrocks’ Noah Thompson won the No. 2 singles championship by beating Dhruv Laungani (6-2, 6-3).

Northville’s Anikait Pundhir beat Tyler Whitens of Catholic Central for the No. 3 singles title when Whitens retired, while CC’s Graham Long beat Novi’s Daniel Han in straight sets (6-2, 7-5) for the No. 4 singles title.

In the No. 1 doubles final, Northville’s Nick Song and Josh Kim defeated Novi’s Masato King and Vincent Li (6-3, 6-4). The Wildcats’ duo of James Warner and Samuel Seki fell to Northville’s Nikhil Karnani and Brian Zhang (6-0, 6-0) in the No. 2 doubles championship. Nathan Shields and Anderson Herdoiza of Northville used three sets to defeat Surya Takawale and Michael Mohtadi of Novi (6-3, 5-7, 6-1) in the No. 3 doubles final. Northville duo Michael Rogal and Rohit Maddali beat Novi’s Gowtham Kantamneni and Sai Saripalli in the No. 4 doubles final, 6-0, 7-6 (2).

Regional 5 at Utica Eisenhower

Rochester teams dominated at last Wednesday’s regional, led by first-place finisher Stoney Creek with 28 points. Adams came second with 23 points, while Rochester fell just short of state qualifying with 16 in third place. Lake Orion came fourth with 15 points, and Oxford ended with two points to come in 11th.

Rochester’s Chad Anderson qualified for state by defeating Andrew Vincler in the No. 1 singles final (6-4, 5-7, 7-5). In the No. 2 singles championship, Stoney Creek’s Quentin Rangi beat Adams’ Hardy Chen by consecutive scores of 6-0.

From Adams, Aditya Dao defeated Stoney Creek’s JJ Vettaraino (6-2, 6-2) in the No. 3 singles title match. Also from the Highlanders, Vihaan Limaye beat Stoney’s Gavin Clark in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 6-0) for the No. 4 singles championship.

In the No. 1 doubles final, Alexander Kawasaki and David Dolezal won by beating Rochester’s Gakuto Morikawa and Matthew Morrow, 7-6 (6), 6-3. Stoney Creek duo Drew Fajardo and Christian Lambert won the No. 2 doubles championship by beating Connor Fox and Marcel Anders of Lake Orion, 6-4, 7-6 (5).

The No. 3 doubles final was won by Hudson Rasegan and Shaan Batra for their victory (5-7, 6-3, 6-1) against Adams’ Sairam Balaji and Carson Eleczko. Spencer Sun and Gibby Beers won the No. 4 doubles final with a win over Michael Cho and Micha Kim of Adams, 6-4, 6-2.

Regional 6 at Brighton

Defending D1 state champion Bloomfield Hills scored 32 points to win Thursday’s regional, finishing ahead of Okemos (23 points). Brighton and Clarkston tied for third with 15, followed by Clarkston (15) and Walled Lake Northern (10). West Bloomfield tied Grand Ledge for sixth with five points, followed by Waterford United, who tied with Hartland with four points.

Pierce Shaya, last year’s No. 2 singles state winner, won the No. 1 singles championship by beating Okemos’ Suchir Nagisetty (6-1, 6-0). Meanwhile, Connor Shaya, winner of No. 3 singles at state last year, defeated Kai Minamisono of Okemos (6-1, 6-2).

In the No. 3 singles championship, Zev Spiegel defeated Okemos Sahaj Pakala in three sets (6-3, 2-6, 6-4). Bloomfield Hills’ Brady Winston defeated Okemos’ Shaurya Padwal for the No. 4 singles title.

For the No. 1 doubles final, Blackhawks duo Asher Langwell and Dominic Pacarella defeated Alex Zhang and Krishaan Shah of Okemos (6-4, 6-1). Noah Kaplan and Krish Reddy gave Bloomfield Hills another first-place finish by defeating Kai Cuthpert and Addy Sarda in the No. 2 doubles final (6-4, 6-4).

Meyer Saperstein and Sajan Doshi from Bloomfield Hills won the No. 3 doubles final by beating Akash Krishnan and Ayan Arora (6-2, 6-1). The No. 4 doubles title belonged to David Langwell and Jude Badreddine for defeating Clarkston’s Max Dodge-Rubin and Kamy Shushtari, 6-1, 6-2.

DIVISION 2

Regional 8 at Allen Park

Groves’ Michael Liss, who made it to the third round of the top singles flight at last season’s state tournament, won the No. 1 singles bracket in Allen Park by defeating Seaholm’s Carter Griffith in the final, 6-3, 6-1. Seaholm’s Joaquim Flory defeated Eric Mitchell (6-4, 6-2) in the No. 1 singles final.

Also from the Maples, Giorgia Materazzo bested the Falcons’ Anthony Gaggos in the No. 3 singles championship (7-6, 6-2). In another all-Birmingham final in the No. 4 singles final, Seaholm’s Alex Ting won over Groves’ Max Schardt (6-1, 6-1).

Groves duo Benji Cook and Lucas Winchester defeated Carson Wright and Leo Kim of Seaholm in the No. 1 doubles title match (6-4, 6-2). Groves won another championship when Jackson Mush and Will DuRoss edged Milan Patel and Jad Abdo (6-7, 6-4, 4-5) in the No. 2 doubles final.

Seaholm’s tandem of Britton Leo and Aaryan Senthilvanan took the No. 3 doubles championship by beating Groves’ Dylan Brand and Evan Wright (6-3, 6-3). For the Falcons, Ari Blank and Kyle Clinkscale beat Andrew Wachowicz and Connor Champion to win the No. 4 doubles final.

Regional 9 at Ypsilanti Lincoln

North Farmington inked its return to state by winning with 27 points at last Wednesday’s regional over South Lyon East (21 points), while third-place finisher South Lyon finished just outside of state qualifying with 16 points.

Fifth-place Walled Lake Central totaled nine points, Lakeland and Farmington tied for seventh with six points, and Milford (two points) and Walled Lake Western (one point) ended in 11th and 12th place, respectively.

Walled Lake Central’s Han Chau took South Lyon East’s Mason Crosby to three sets before falling in the No. 1 singles championship, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. North Farmington won the No. 2 singles final behind Hamadaan Fysudeen, who defeated Brayden Erwin of South Lyon East (6-2, 6-1).

North Farmington’s Jack Weingarden topped South Lyon East’s Zachary Walcott in the No. 3 singles final (6-4, 6-2), and NF’s Tommy Buckhave beat SL East’s Alton Stieneker in the No. 4 singles championship (6-2, 6-0).

Alex Ashare and Seth Cohen of North Farmington fell short to Temperance Bedford pair Carter Ryan and Taylor Burgermeister (6-2, 6-3) in the No. 1 doubles final. North Farmington’s Jay Challa and Advay Das beat Kevin Kim and Alex Tian from South Lyon East in the No. 2 doubles championship, 6-2, 6-2.

South Lyon tandem Jacob Kisiel and Luke Rottinghaus beat North Farmington’s Aiden Binder and Keval Shah for the No. 3 doubles championship (6-0, 6-4). In the No. 4 doubles final, Malakai Gorzyca and Kyle Burger of Bedford beat Nick Thayer and Advaith Vijayan from North Farmington (6-2, 6-2).

Regional 10 at Grosse Point South

Berkley tied for third place and qualified for state by equaling Grosse Pointe South with 18 points in a regional won last Wednesday by Detroit U-D Jesuit (30 points). Royal Oak took sixth with nine points and Ferndale tied for 10th with two points.

For Berkley, Evan Weber captured the No. 1 singles championship by beating U-D Jesuit’s William Cahill, 6-2, 6-2.

DIVISION 3

Regional 15 at Ann Arbor Greenhills

Madison Heights Lamphere accumulated three points to finish seventh place, also.

For the Yellowjackets, Saahith Reddy (defending No. 1 singles state champion) beat Teddy Staebler split the first two sets before Staebler retired in the No. 1 singles championship. Country Day’s Dan Marin beat Greenhills’ Murli Pandey (6-2, 6-4) in the No. 2 singles flight final.

In the No. 3 singles final, DCD’s Rickey Jeong beat Maksim Rakic-Denis of Greenhills, 6-4, 6-2. The two programs repped in the No. 4 singles final as well when Adam Mahmoud of Country Day defeated Greenhills’ Tai Singal (6-2, 6-2).

In the No. 1 doubles championship, Achyut Reddy and Charlie Khagnany won by beating Kabir Rajendra and William Pearce for Greenhills, 6-4, 6-2. Ajay Purohit and Charlie Rich of the hosts defeated Kevin Ye and Victor Marin from Country Day in the No. 1 doubles flight final, 6-7 (8), 6-4, 6-1.

Greenhills duo Richard Wu and Kirtan Palapattu used three sets to beat Thomas Bresson and John McKany from DCD in the No. 3 doubles final (6-2, 5-7, 6-4). Also from Greenhills, Lander Whelan and Deven Pimputkar defeated Country Day duo Rick Nie and Preston Blum for the No. 4 doubles championship (5-7, 6-3, 6-2).

Regional 16 at Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood

Defending state champs and top-ranked Cranbrook-Kingswood hoisted the regional title last Wednesday on home court, finishing with 32 points.

Avondale tied for fourth place with 11 points, and Ortonville Brandon came in seventh with four points.

The runner-up in last year’s state No. 1 singles flight, Cranbrook’s Ryan Michaels beat Clio’s Joshua Verelst for the regional’s No. 1 singles title, 6-2, 6-1.

Cranbrook’s Kenneth Hu won the No. 2 singles final, beating Goodrich’s Aiden Tenniswood (6-0, 6-0). Also from Cranbrook, Jace Bernard defeated Goodrich’s Coy Nicklas in the No. 3 singles final (6-0, 6-0). In another meeting between the two schools, Cranbrook’s Eli Rosen captured the No. 4 singles championship by beating Goodrich’s Matthew Brown (6-0, 6-1).

The No. 1 doubles championship was won by Cranbrook duo Aryan Tiwari and Josh Day, who beat Goodrich’s Drake Ocwieja and Parker Sieffert (6-1, 6-0). Cranes tandem Ryan VanDyke and Cole Kirschenbaum defaeted Goodrich’s Cooper Hallwood and James Mahon (6-0, 6-1) for the No. 2 doubles championship.

Sanjya Lokum and Daniel Ma of Cranbrook beat Bay City John Glenn pair William Gallagher and Nick Naylor (6-1, 6-0) for the No. 3 doubles title. Colin VanDyke and Nabhah Veeramani of Cranbrook bested Avondale pair Nico Chaparro and Uzair Dewan for the No. 4 doubles final (6-1, 6-0).

Regional 20 at Grosse Ile

Frankel’s Hayden Dean used three sets (6-4, 2-6, 7-6) to top AA Gabriel Richard’s Andy Marshall for the No. 2 singles championship.

Also from Frankel, Brandon Witt beat Gabriel Richard’s Liam Leitzinger for the No. 3 singles title, 6-2, 6-1. In the No. 4 singles final, Frankel’s Shyah Lakind fell short to Gabriel Richard’s Joseph Stout (6-0, 6-2).

Grosse Ile’s Nick Naso and Eli Randles beat Frankel duo Robbie Feldman and Eli Rosenzweig in the No. 1 doubles final, 6-1, 5-7, 7-5. Jaguars duo Austin Squarcia and Louie Kowalsky beat Jackson Lumen Christi’s Maden Brady and Luke Dumont to win the No. 2 doubles title, 6-4, 6-4.

Regional 21, at Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett

Pontiac Notre Dame Prep earned its state qualification by finishing second place (21 points) last Wednesday behind the hosts, who captured first with 31.

Notre Dame Prep’s Rocco Wisniewski defeated Liggett’s Charlie Cooksey to win the No. 1 singles final (6-0, 6-4).

In the No. 1 doubles title match, Liggett duo Landen Maltby and Luca Marciano beat ND Prep’s Ethan Fitzpatrick and Luco Wisniewski, 7-5, 6-4. Also from Liggett, Peter and Charlie Laethem topped Irish tandem Finley Wise and Brooks Warner for the No. 3 doubles championship (6-1, 6-1). In the No. 4 doubles title match, Davis Ford and Lucas Ferguson of Liggett beat Josh Powers and Adiv Patel of ND Prep (6-3, 6-0).
