The kid attractor factor: The uplifting and inspiring true story and lighthearted tone are a great draw for families.

What it's about: A stand-alone installment in the “Star Wars” canon, “Rogue One” follows the Rebel Alliance as it attempts to stop the Empire's world-destroying weapon.
The kid attractor factor: Well, it is a “Star Wars” movie, so your kids might be a little bit excited. Stormtroopers and droids and Darth Vader and more.
Violence: This is a very dark and gritty installment, and the third act is a wildly violent shoot-'em-up. There are several on-screen deaths, ship crashes, apocalyptic explosions, etc.
Language: None.

Drugs: None.
Parents advisory: Too scary for younger kids.

What it's about: Think of it as “Zootopia Idol,” an animated comedy about a city filled with walking, talking, singing animals who put on an “American Idol”-style singing competition.

Violence: A scene of peril in which a building is destroyed in a flood and crumbles; a robbery heist and getaway.
