


DUI Drugs Arrest: On June 20 at around 11:53 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop near the 2200 block of Bronze Star Drive for vehicle code violations. During the contact, 63-year-old Richard Zafra of Woodland displayed signs of impairment and was on search. During a series of field sobriety tests, Zafra displayed impairment. K9 Ricky and his handler arrived to assist with a free air sniff and detected target odor around the personal items of the passenger, 34-year-old Amber Bowman, of Woodland. Officers located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia within Bowman’s belongings. Zafra was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for DUI, Drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bowman was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Pursuit Arrest: On June 24 at around 1:07 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle run a red light at the intersection of East Main Street and East Street at a high rate of speed. When the officer attempted to make a traffic stop for the violation, the vehicle did not yield. The driver, later identified as 34-year-old Matthew Saragoza of Woodland, drove approximately three miles at varying rates of speed. Saragoza stopped the vehicle outside of the city limits of Woodland and was arrested. Saragoza was booked at the Yolo County Jail for evading a peace officer.
DUI Hit-and-Run Arrest: On June 24, at approximately 10:33 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision in which one of the parties had fled the scene. A citizen witness to the incident followed the vehicle to a residence on the 100 block of Fourth Street. During follow-up investigation at the residence, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was 29-year-old Douglas Woodall, of Woodland. Woodall is on CDC Parole for vehicular manslaughter. Woodall displayed impairment during a series of field sobriety tests. As a result of the investigation, Woodall was arrested and booked at the Yolo County Jail for DUI, hit-and-run, and a parole violation.

HOST made 49 contacts and offered services to 28 individuals, 7 accepted service. HOST tagged 5 camps and cleaned up 7. HOST conducted 15 downtown patrols.
Recently, HOST assisted detectives with an investigation where a person was stabbed. As part of regular HOST duties, the team conducts downtown patrols and makes contacts with not only business owners, but the unhoused members of the community. A week prior the incident, HOST contacted a subject in Heritage Plaza who was later determined to be the suspect in the stabbing incident. The information obtained by the HOST officer helped resolve the case with an arrest within eight hours, as he had taken the time to learn where the subject spends his time throughout the day. As a specialized unit, HOST assists not only issues related to the unhoused, but provide integral information for investigations by other members of the police department.
