A Washington Township teen was recently honored by her hometown for her “extraordinary” dedication to preserving and celebrating her Polish heritage.

Evalyn Frederick, a high school senior, received a proclamation from township Supervisor Sebastian “Sam” Previti recognizing her efforts.

“Evalyn is a shining example of how cultural heritage can enrich a community,” Previti said in a news release. “Her dedication to Polish folk dancing, her commitment to community service, and her passion for preserving traditions serve as an inspiration to her peers and all of us in Washington Township.”

Evalyn has devoted 11 years to Polish folk dancing, a tradition that demands discipline, passion and a connection to cultural roots, township officials said. Through her artistry, she has not only celebrated her heritage but also made meaningful contributions to the community through service and the study of Polish traditions, officials said.

Previti said the teen’s accomplishments will culminate in her upcoming Graduation Ball, a milestone of significance in the Polish community. Achieving this honor requires strict adherence to rigorous rules, milestones and commitments — a testament to her dedication and work ethic.

Washington Township officials say they are proud to recognize Evalyn Frederick for her achievements and celebrate her as an integral part of the community. Her accomplishments highlight the importance of honoring and preserving cultural traditions while contributing to the enrichment of the broader community, officials said.
