South Korean president is banned from travel
SEOUL >> South Korea’s Justice Ministry banned President Yoon Suk Yeol on Monday from leaving the country while he’s under investigation for alleged treason and abuse of power following his martial law gambit last week.
Yoon survived an impeachment vote Saturday after his party boycotted the vote, but calls for him to resign are growing louder every day, with the prime minister taking over day-to-day governance and military leaders saying they will not follow any new order to impose martial law.
But Yoon continues to refuse to resign, meaning his presidency is in a “vegetative” state, according to political analysts.
The phrase has been widely adopted by the South Korean media.
