1. SONORA (9-2-2)
The Raiders’ record includes strong wins over Wilson (3-1) and Santa Fe (3-0) and a 1-1 tie with La Mirada. They will have a tough time in the North Hills League, but their defense is strong. They have allowed only 12 goals through 13 games.
2. ARCADIA (5-1-3)
The Apaches have been impressive with a 6-2 rout of La Canada and a 2-0 win over Tesoro. They have ties with Flintridge Prep and Monrovia and have already scored 27 goals this season.
3. EL RANCHO (8-1-2)
The Dons have allowed only eight goals. They had a big win, 4-1, over Flintridge Prep and ties against Warren and Glendora. They also had a solid 1-0 win over Brea Olinda. Their only setback was a 1-0 nonleague loss to Ayala.
4. WALNUT (9-3-1)
The Mustangs lost 1-0 to Bonita in the opening game of the Ontario Christian tournament, then had three straight shutouts to win the consolation title, beating Diamond Ranch 1-0 to clinch it. They opened the tough Palomares League with a 1-1 tie against Claremont. They have a standout goalkeeper in Talisa Perez and Vianna Alvarez and Grace Baird are also players to watch.
5. FLINTRIDGE PREP (7-2-1)
Senior Val Mancilla is off to a strong start with 15 goals. The Wolves had a tie against Arcadia, a 2-1 loss to a tough Warren team and a 2-1 win over Hart. They will be favored to win the Prep League.
6. GLENDORA (4-4-2)
The Tartans have some strong wins on their resume. They beat La Habra 4-0 and had a 2-1 victory over Ayala in a Palomares League opener. They also had a 2-0 win over San Dimas and tied Brea Olinda 0-0.
7. LA CANADA (6-1-1)
The Spartans look like the Rio Hondo League favorites. They had non-league wins over Mayfield (3-0) and Flintridge Sacred Heart (3-1) and a 4-3 win over Crescenta Valley. Junior Samantha Hosford has a team-high 14 goals.
8. LA HABRA (11-4-1)
The Highlanders are usually among the area’s top teams. They tied Sonora 2-2 but were hammered by Glendora 4-0 and lost to Ayala 2-0.
9. DIAMOND RANCH (7-4)
The Panthers, who won the Division 7 title last season, have had some good wins. They defeated Glendora (1-0) and San Dimas (2-0). They also lost to Walnut (2-0) and Bonita (3-0) to close out the Ontario Christian tournament. Standout striker Jaidyn Williams was injured and did not play in those games.
10. BONITA (5-7-3)
The Bearcats had a rough start, but they played well recently in the Ontario Christian tournament. They beat Walnut 1-0 and defeated Diamond Ranch 3-0 to earn third place in the tourney. They also beat Diamond Bar 5-2 to open the Palomares League. They have won four of their last five.
