CAPITOLA

City celebrates 75 years with Twilight Concert

Capitola will celebrate 75 years of incorporation with a community concert and a helping (or two) of free cake.

The city will host a Twilight Concert, featuring the band Dulce, from 6-8 p.m. July 31 at Esplanade Park. The location for the celebration itself also holds special meaning, as it is the spot formerly occupied by the Capitola Ballroom where, Jan. 4, 1949, enough county voters cast ballots in favor of incorporating the city of Capitola. The decision was formally enacted seven days later by the California Secretary of State on Jan. 11.

City staff will be in attendance and available to answer questions about upcoming city projects or how to get involved in local government.

Twilight Concerts at the Esplanade Band Stand will be held from 6-8 p.m. every Wednesday through the end of August.
